Metro San Jose is one of the more heavily congested regions for automobile traffic in the nation, as is shown consistently in various national transportation studies.

According to a transportation study by INRIX Inc. (a high tech telematics transportation company) metro San Jose ranked #18 out of the top 100 worst traffic congested cities in the USA... the INRIX study also determined the peak weekly traffic period to be on Thursday afternoons between the hours of 5pm - 6pm.

According to another traffic study by the Texas Transportation Institute, the TTI ranked metro San Jose #7 out of the top 20 most congested cities as measured by the number of hours commuters endured in extra travel time during rush hour traffic... the TTI determined metro San Jose residents waste approx. an extra 60 hours per year traveling in local rush-hour traffic.
